How Vixel Stories works

A 90-second primer on playing and replaying a Vixel episode.

The play loop

Hook impression. A short premise tile loads with a motion preview from the first beat.
Start. Tap "Start" — the first beat opens with voiced narration, illustrated panels, and a tap to advance.
Choice 1. Around the 90-second mark you face the first critical choice. You have a real time window. What you do here unlocks one of four route signatures.
Middle pressure. Each route has its own beats — different art, different lines, different cost.
Choice 2. The second critical choice arrives near the end. It commits you to one of the three endings.
Ending. An ending screen reveals the consequence. You can share the ending tag, replay the last choice, or continue to the next episode.

Interaction primitives

Tap. Advance to the next panel inside a beat.
Hold. QTE pressure — keep the prop steady or the moment slips.
Swipe. Commit a directional choice when the option grid appears.
Rapid-tap. Build a meter under time pressure for action shorts.

What replay value looks like

Because the same premise produces four route signatures and three endings, a single short is not "done" after one playthrough. The full replay tree typically takes 8 to 12 minutes — enough for a complete watching session, short enough that replaying does not feel like homework.
